Mega-retailer Wal-Mart will pay an unspecified sum to victims hurt in a stampede that left a security guard trampled to death at a Valley Stream store during an after-Thanksgiving sale.
The Nassau County district attorney's office is expected to announce the agreement with Wal-Mart Wednesday, more than five months after a security guard was killed by stampeding shoppers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when stores typically flood with people looking for bargains.
Jdimytai Damour, 34, died after some 2,000 shoppers broke through a glass door at a store, knocking him down and running him over.
Damour, a seasonal security worker from Jamaica, Queens, died from "positional asphyxiation" consistent with having pressure applied to his chest, an autopsy revealed.
